General Airbag Control Module Examination & Repairs
In some instances the area where the vehicle wiring harness connects to an airbag control module (ACM) can be damaged prohibiting the Bosch® direct-to-module (D2M) cable from connecting. Additionally, the ACM itself may have sustained damage during the crash. In many instances we are able to conduct "light" repairs to the ACM and still collect data.
Custom made cables
Did you know there are nearly 40 "supported" vehicle models where data can only be collected through the vehicle diagnostic port (DLC) because a direct-to-module (D2M) cable was never made? We most likely have already made a cable and can provide crash data retrieval services if needed.
Did you know that over 20 Bosch® CDR System direct-to-module (D2M) cables have been discontinued? The vehicles that would require these D2M cables are still on the road, and still crashing. In most instances, we can make a custom cable for our customers so they can collect the data using their respective EDR tool.
We have also made, and in some cases sell, custom made cables for vehicle forensic purposes other than Crash Data Retrieval. More often than not, these are custom one of a kind cables made to serve a particular purpose when there was no factory cable.

Our Services Include
Airbag Control Module Exams
- Digital microcopic examinations for damage
- When possible both sides of the circuit board are examined
- Any time the case appears to have been damaged this is part of our inspection process prior to any repairs
Airbag Control Module Repairs
- The ACM case was badly damaged
- The ACM pins were bent and touching each other
- Attempting data collection is probably not a good idea
Before & After Repairs
- The top three rows of 12 pins were bent and touching
- Each pin was straightened and confirmed to be intact
- Data collection was successful using the D2M cable
Airbag Control Module Repairs
- The ACM case was badly damaged
- The capacitor (purple) had been disconnected
- How would you collect data without a connector?
After Repairs
- A microscopic examination showed no visible damage
- The capacitor was reconnected to the proper terminals
- The appropriate connections were made on the circuit board
- The plug allowed for connection to the Bosch® CDR Tool
- Data was successfully collected
Custom Cables
- Was there a direct to module (D2M) cable made?
- Has the direct to module (D2M) cable been discontinued?
- This custom cable uses a portion of the vehicle wiring harness
- The plug allows for connection to the Bosch® CDR Tool
- Data was successfully collected
Vehicle "Simulator"
- This item can be a teaching aid or court exhibit
- Demonstrates the crash data retrieval process indoors
- Repowering can be practiced or demonstrated indoors
- No car needed, just your ACM
